We’ve all heard the words “there are no new stories to tell” or “everything’s already been written, there’s nothing unique left”. Most people, myself included, believed this. Tara Sims and her Timekeeper Trilogy prove us wrong. I’ve truly never read anything like this series, a feat little authors can achieve.
Fantasy, mythology, and romance collide in the Timekeeper books and explode in a heart-warming and thrilling display. I can’t believe I ever hesitated and questioned my decision to pickup the first book.
The alternate world where time is run by clock spirits’ magic, handed down to them by the gods, is enchanting. The characters over the series are visceral creatures who I almost forget are only words on a page.
A father trapped in a city where time has stopped, a boy who encounters a clock spirit (who he believed to be the stuff of legend), rivals to friends, friends to enemies, strangers to lovers, war, reverse-engineering, magic, reunion, betrayal, uprising and so much more, the Timekeeper Trilogy has it all. A series to spark wonder and awe in a wide variety of readers, I’m sure those who pick it up will find something to keep them turning the pages until the very end.
Tara Sim manages to effortlessly combine genres and their signature elements. Regardless of the range of elements she seamlessly blends her story together, never once jolting the reader into confusion with the many surprises and revelations in the Timekeeper Trilogy.
Tara Sim is an author to aspire to for me, and I'm sure for others too. I'll personally be picking up more of her titles and taking a deep look into her blog, which can be found here.
