She Was The Sun by Lauren Johnston

Today we have another guest post by someone special. Lauren Johnston is my best friend, and she’s also the inspiration for one of my characters in the Avalonian trilogy. She's my ride or die. She writes poetry in her free time as a way of expressing and coping with her mental health. Here is her poem ‘She Was The Sun’. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do.

She was the sun

Till her light was dulled,

So she turned into the moon

Where she shined in the night sky,

Till she was taken advantage of

So she turned into a star,

In the hopes she’d be small enough that no one would notice her, not even a mere star

Till she was done.

Till there was nothing left to shine for.

Till the day she knew would come again

Where she’d become the sun, and this time

This time she will shine so bright,

So bright that it will hurt everyone that dulled her before

So bright that it will make jaws drop,

She will continue to shine and never stop,

Because she knows she will forever continue to grow and find her worth

Till the day she sets this world on fire with how bright she burns!

Till the day she loves herself and finds her worth
