I adore this quote from Stephen King. I believe it can be interpreted in just about any situation in our lives and provides the inspiration and motivation for some of our greatest adventures. For me, I can relate this quote to writing, but I can also relate it to any big project or decision in my life that has led me down the path to where I am today.
The best things in life are those that make us scared. Those big decisions, the terrifying choices we have to make, often those are the most exciting moments of our lives, the decisions that can lead us to the best memories and experiences we’ll ever have. That's why, when I face a choice in life that scares the heck out of me and makes me clammy and shaky, those are the choices I'm the most excited about.
The most recent time this happened, was when I was debating whether or not to restart my writing journey. My first attempt at a serious writing career was not exactly a good one. Those thoughts and insecurities still echoed in my mind when the idea for my current works struck. I was terrified to try again, to fail again, to welcome critique and review of my work again. The fear and anxiety of writing again made me realise that this life-changing decision was going to change my life. The best things we do are the scariest, they’re the choices we make that can make or break us.
