Photography as Inspiration

This will be our last instalment of the Sources of Inspiration series here on the blog. Much like many of our other suggestions, this one stems from a different medium of art. Photography can capture so much just within it’s still-frame simplicity. After all, the phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words” had to come from somewhere, right?

Many of us probably do this without even thinking about it. If you, like me, have ever used pinterest for character or setting inspiration, then congratulations, you’re already there. Settings and characters can both be inspired from photographs. Landscapes or scenery photographs can lead to worlds, and portraits can speak volumes of a character waiting for your creation.

Photographs are a fantastic way to visualise your ideas and stories, so I absolutely recommend using pinterest or any other photographic platform to inspire your works of fiction, or non-fiction.
