It’s May, you know the drill. Here are my goals for this month:
1. Finish Editing Book 1
This was on last month’s list too, but I dropped the ball last month and so here it is again. May will see the end of my first edit of Forgotten Children of Avalon, book 1 in my debut trilogy. I’m really enjoying the editing process, so I’m hoping this will be a fulfilling achievement.
2. Write 20K Words Book 2
Corruption of Avalon, book 2, is taking longer than I'd hoped to write. I was hoping to finish the entire book by this time, but I'm not even half-way through the first draft. Rather than setting the impossible goal of finishing the first draft this month, I'm giving myself a smaller goal to reach for in an attempt to not drown in feelings of failure.
3. Read 8 Books
I begin May sitting at 21 books read so far this year. That's unfortunately 11 books behind schedule for my reading goal for 2023 of 100 books. I was meant to read 8 books a month to achieve this goal, and so that’s my goal, and any extra books chipping away at that gap will just be an added bonus for myself.
4. Become More Consistent
Last month wasn’t a good month for me creatively. I had no motivation, I stopped writing, editing, and even writing content for the blog. I was distracted and lethargic, missing every single goal I set. I wasn’t even reading anymore. This month I'm dedicating myself to doing at least a little a day and building a routine for my creative work that doesn’t drain me and gives me sustained creative juice to keep things moving.
5. Grow Following
Due to my stagnation last month, my following has flatlined a bit. This month I'm dedicating some extra time to engaging with the writing community and my existing followers. The community has done so much for me, and I'd like to do my part in supporting others out there and connecting with as many like-minded profiles out there.
