The title says it all folks, let’s jump straight in.
1. Book Three Pre-Writing Process
The first thing I want to do this month is start looking at book three of my trilogy. For me, the pre-writing process includes character arcs, a vague map of crucial plot points and a detailed chapter-by-chapter outline of the novel. I think I can probably tick off everything except the detailed outline in February.
2. Write 10K Words (Book Two)
Easing in February, my goal is a mere 10K words contributed to the first draft of Corruption of Avalon (book two). With my outline to guide me, I’m hoping these early chapters can meet my level of excitement about what Corruption of Avalon can be.
3. Read 8 Books
As a part of my reading goal for 2023 of 100 books, I will need to read 8 books in February to stay on track to achieve triple digits. I’m beginning to listen to audiobooks while I work from home, which is helping me to get through more than I used to.
4. Continue to Grow Social Media Following
As mentioned yesterday in my January Wrap-Up, my social media presence within the writing community has been a struggle so far. I'm hoping to make some process here in February by engaging more with comments rather than content posts in order to engage personally with individuals as well as provide content for those who have graciously already followed my account.
5. Enjoy the Process
Finally, I'm going to start stressing less about my writing. The reason I do this is because I enjoy it, so I want to focus more on that enjoyment and less on the pressure to do as much as I can in an attempt to feel more professional and accomplished as a writer. If I'm not enjoying my writing and engaging with that community, then I'm doing something wrong, and that’s why I've analysed my priorities and can refocus on the fact that I write because I’m a storyteller, and it brings me joy.
